SAFEST is an ambitious 4-year project funded under the new cycle of the EU’s framework for research and innovation: Horizon Europe.

The European Commission estimates that 8 to 12 % of patients admitted to hospitals in the EU suffer adverse events, many following surgical procedures. Our project seeks to play a decisive role in improving patient safety along the patient journey before, during, and after surgery (often referred to as perioperative safe care).

To this end, SAFEST aims to identify and agree on a unified perioperative set of practices based on evidence and promote their implementation across Europe involving healthcare professionals, patients, and other stakeholders.

One of the key aspects of SAFEST will be its collaborative approach, for which we will need an interactive platform. This platform should be (1) adaptable to the different project phases and projects’ products; and (2) feature different access levels or sections depending on the type of end-user.
