Development of the Good Practice Manual
It focuses on developing a set of good practice recommendations that make it possible to establish the most relevant aspects of the care provided by professionals at any of the levels at which services are delivered. The methodology for developing the recommendations, using expert consensus, requires the definition of common quality criteria and therefore promotes the standardization of practice, reducing unwanted variability between centers, services and even professionals.
The development process includes a literature review to ensure that the available scientific evidence is incorporated into the definition of good practices. It may also be necessary to carry out visits or interviews with sector references in order to consider this information when defining good practice.
The work is carried out jointly by members of the contracting organization and professionals from the Avedis Donabedian Institute. The usual consensus methods in the field of continuous quality improvement are applied in this project. The Donabedian Institute provides methodological support and overall coordination to ensure the development of a homogeneous set of recommendations.
