Guidance for operational deployment of quality of youth care
The Avedis Donabedian Foundation has worked, together with the technical team of the Xarxa Catalana de Serveis d'Informació Juvenil (XCSIJ), in the elaboration of the Guia per al desplegament operatiu de la qualitat de l'atenció jove, recently published by the Direcció General de Joventut - Agència Catalana de la Joventut in l'E-Joventut, Virtual space of resources for youth policies.
The Guide is of voluntary application by the Youth Information, Guidance and Counseling Services that are throughout the Catalan territory. It is the result of a collaborative work in which have participated, with different intensities, about two hundred people in the sector. One of the main contributions has been to define a map of processes shared by all the entities, which establishes which are the strategic, operative and support processes shared by all the services.
In this first phase, the document develops four operational processes, which have been prioritized: Detection of needs, interests and trends; Management of information; Dynamization of information and Guidance and advice to young people. It is foreseen that, progressively, the Guide will be complemented with the consensual description of other processes.
This Guide helps to disseminate the culture of quality among professionals working in these services, offering a common framework for action and facilitating the implementation of what is described, by providing many of the tools necessary to support implementation: supporting documents and records, quality indicators, glossary, etc. In short, it is an excellent material for action, which we hope will be useful for professionals in the sector and will enable them to advance in the culture of quality and continuous improvement.
