FAD joins Universal Children's Day celebrations
Improving the quality of care received by children is a priority for us and we have carried out several projects to this end. We highlight two initiatives that we have recently developed to contribute to the provision of comprehensive care for children with mental health problems by focusing on the training of professionals.
Using co-creation and collaborative work methodologies, professionals from the different services involved in care have identified the objectives, contents and learning methodologies that will make them more competent to care for children with mental health problems from the perspective of integrated care. Two groups have been formed: the first one focused especially on the attention to children under the care of the Administration with care measures in centers of the protection system, and the second one was centered on all children, since professionals of the educational system were involved. Both work teams responded to the request of the different Departments of the Generalitat involved in the care of children and adolescents: the Departament de Salut, d'Ensenyament and de Treball, Afers socials i Famílies.
Last Thursday, November 10, the first session of the joint face-to-face training for professionals of the protection system and the child and adolescent mental health care system was held, as planned by the working group led by the staff of the Avedis Donabedian University Institute. An online training is expected to be available soon to work on the basic contents that were prioritized.
The FAD team shows its satisfaction for the leadership shown by the reference persons of each of these Departments, which has allowed them to start making possible what was planned.
The high complexity of the care required by children with mental health problems and their families is a challenge for both the professionals of the school system and the professionals of the protection system. Mutual knowledge between services and training is a first step, but a fundamental one, to be able to make a comprehensive care approach that improves results and family-centered care.
